Applications - Engineered Remedial Barriers

CETCO GCLs very low permeability, self sealing characteristics, and factory controlled quality make them ideal for use as a subsurface engineered remedial barrier to isolate hazardous wastes from contact, precipitation, surface water, and groundwater. They are a cost-effective option for redeveloping brownfield sites (previously contaminated properties) into revitalized commercial or residential properties.

CETCO GCL's superior hydraulic conductivity is achieved with a product thickness of less than one inch, thus allowing for 2-3 feet of additional waste disposal depth. In addition, air space (landfill volume) is gained on both the bottom liner and cover systems. An average sized landfill can obtain over 10 percent more airspace when a GCL is used instead of a CCL.
