Coal combustion residuals (CCR) are created during the power generation process and can include fly ash, bottom ash, boilerslag, and flue gas desulfurization (FGD) waste. CCRs contain trace concentrations of heavy metals and therefore cannot be dumped or stored where rainwater can leach the metals. Liner systems are typically used to contain the coal combustion by-products and protect them from leaching into the environment. CETCO has engineered our Geosynthetic Clay Liners to meet the harsh conditions encountered in CCR disposal applications.

BENTOMAT® DN

BENTOMAT® DN is a reinforced GCL consisting of a layer of sodium bentonite between two nonwoven geotextiles, which are needlepunched together. CETCO products are the only GCLs that offer Supergroove technology, a groove in the nonwoven fabric that allows the bentonite to migrate out and self-seam at the overlap. This feature eases the installation process by eliminating the need for supplemental bentonite. All CETCO geosynthetic clay liners feature granular bentonite, which creates less dust during installation than powdered bentonite and is more likely to stay in place once deployed.

BENTOMAT® ST

BENTOMAT® ST is a reinforced GCL consisting of a layer of sodium bentonite between a woven and a nonwoven geotextile, which are needlepunched together. INTERLOK

INTERLOK GCLs have a maximum permeability that is 5 times less than the standard bentonite-based GCL and is 100 times less than conventional compacted clay liners. These GCLs are available in many of the same product configurations as BENTOMAT including: DN, ST, 200R.
